Rec:Book. Metadata by Jeffrey Pomerantz

Readability:

enjoyable / okay / dry / kill me

Difficulty:

introduction / okay / LT CMDR Data

Pros:

Easy to read and carry; has an entertaining cover

Cons:

Has too few further readings

Metadata by Jeffrey Pomerantz is a very enjoyable introduction into the world of, well, metadata, and I mean that in the best sense: it is humorous, clear and concise, treating the topic of each chapter in the right amount of depth for a beginner. Obviously, teaching all those MOOCs was a great thing for this book, because there was nothing in it I didn’t understand. (Speaking of which, a lot of videos are available on his channel on youtube concerning the topic!) Absolutely essential for every beginner!

This blog is dedicated to my interest in digital humanities - a fascination I pursue in my free time. Most exciting for me is the how, why, and where, exploring the way IT crosses paths with and challenges traditional humanties.
